Zoom ratio

The longest focal length of a zoom lens divided by the shortest.

Usually expressed as a ratio (eg 4:1) or a multiplier (4x).

A zoom lens with a focal length range from 100mm to 400mm would have a zoom ratio of 4:1 or 4x.
