Silent Wave Motor

An almost silent ultrasonic focus motor used in Nikon AF-S lenses.

Nikon in fact uses two different technologies and calls both SWM - one is a 'ring type' motor used on high-end lenses, the other a 'micromotor' which focuses the lens through a gear system.
