Active D Lighting

Active D Lighting is an image processing system in Nikon DSLRs which restores detail in the shadow and highlight areas of high-contrast images, and improves contrast in flat images.

Active D Lighting works as the image is being shot. A similar image enhancement, D Lighting, can be applied after the image has been shot using the camera's retouch menu.
